Manny Ramirez sat out Tuesday night’s Red Sox/Mariners game with a sore right knee. The timing of the injury is very odd considering Manny has been blasted by Red Sox Nation and the Fellowship of the Miserable for saying:
“To be honest with you, I don’t know, I want to stay in Boston, but I want to sit down after the season with ownership and see what my future is going to be in Boston”
The Red Sox have always had exciting games versus the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, now just called the Rays. In the past few years the games beween these two divisional rivals there have been almost no-hitters, beanings and bench clearing brawls. Tonight, the Red Sox begin a three game series with the Tampa Bay Rays which have a half game lead over the second-place Red Sox. The outcome of these three games will make the difference between first and second place.
The Boston Celtics crushed the Los Angeles Lakers and Kobe Bryant 131-92 to win their 17th NBA Championship four games to two on June 17th. The Celtics are now 9-2 in NBA Finals Championship versus the Lakers. The Celtics last won the NBA Championship in 1986. The Celtics look as if they have started another dynasty and have to be the early favorites to repeat next year. Boston is set for a grand parade featuring the Duck Tour boats.
Manny Ramirez finally hit his 500th career home run Saturday night, which all but guarantees a fast track for Manny into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Manny hit the first pitch in his at bat in the seventh inning to give the Sox the lead. The historic shot took place at Camden Yards which was full of Red Sox fans. Manny could hit number 600 in the next three years.
Congrats to lefty Jon Lester for pitching a no hitter versus the Kansas City Royals. The Red Sox won 7-0 and this was the 18th no hitter in Red Sox History.
Joe Nathan Twins hold on against Red Sox 9-8
Joe Nathan sweated out his latest save, making just enough big pitches and one sparkling defensive play to hold on against the Boston Red Sox.
